The Male Body Is Still Taboo – 25 Years of DNA is a bold exhibition exploring the social, cultural, and political forces behind censorship of the male body, especially within the gay community. Marking DNA magazine’s 25th anniversary, it celebrates its legacy as a pioneering LGBTQIA+ publication while examining ongoing taboos around male sexuality and masculinity. Curated by Founding Editor Andrew Creagh and Qtopia Sydney’s Curatorial Director George Savoulis, the show critiques why the male form, particularly the gay male body, remains undervalued in mainstream culture. Featuring a video montage in the Substation, it invites visitors to reflect on how these taboos shape perceptions of male bodies and sexuality.
