Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island | A must visit GALTA/Visit Gay Australia member

Kingfisher Bay Resort, located on World Heritage Listed K’gari Fraser Island is one of Queensland’s iconic eco experiences.

Access is by a 50-minute passenger ferry ride from River Heads at Hervey Bay. You can check-in with your luggage at their dedicated reception at River Heads and leave your vehicle in a secure parking enclosure.

The resort itself offers a choice of restaurants, bars, three pools and a host of tour options, beauty treatments and sporting facilities.

For the LGBTQIA+ traveller, it is a gay-welcoming venue that can also cater for same-sex weddings and functions.

A must do while staying at Kingfisher Bay Resort is their Beauty Spots 4WD Tour, a full day scenic adventure with very knowledgeable guides that takes you to a great variety of attractions including the beautiful rain water perched lake – Lake McKenzie – where you can take a swim and enjoy a picnic lunch.

On this guided tour, you will also take a drive on 75 Mile Beach, float down the clear freshwater Eli Creek and visit the Maheno shipwreck and colored sands of the Pinnacles.

Access to Kingfisher Bay Resort is via Hervey Bay.

GALTA team member Rod Stringer recently visited the resort and rates it ‘Highly Recommended’
